In 2011, my school the Academy of Art University, offered me the opportunity to go to New-York for Spring 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I remember struggling to force back the tears of joy that were welling up as I sat across the table, listening to my journalism professor Paul Wilner, deliver the good news.
“What are you wearing?” That was one of the first things my mother said when I arrived home for Christmas break. “It’s a coat, cape, thingymajig.” I rummaged through my head for some better adjectives. “What it looks like is a potato sack.” “Mom! It’s vintage.”
Wednesday was sadly the last day of GFW There were two Gala Shows, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. I went to see the one in the afternoon, which means that I wasn’t there when the awards were announced.
