What is the background of the work you submitted?
The idea behind this project is the journey of a traveller exploring the rich traits of Persian culture, understanding their culture and gathering layers of experiences to embed in his clothing. Why Persian? In the Persian Gulf, there are still a large number of people following a nomadic lifestyle. My inspiration came from this. I have always wanted to work with menswear and because I love travelling, creating something that combined the two was the best I could come up with for my graduate collection.
What inspires you creatively?
I am kind of an impulsive thinker and my inspiration comes from anything around me; it could be a movie/documentary, a conversation, a book or just a sudden thought about something.
I admire: Louis Daguerre, for his invention of daguerreotype images. The way it’s created is impeccable; it looks antique! I have never seen it in real life but would love to; Haider Ackermann, his designs are very intelligent and innovative; Into the Wild, I saw this movie when I needed some motivation to kick off with my final graduation project and it really helped.
Your favourite film of all times?
I have a few: Amelie, because I admire simplicity and it described that very well; Passion of Christ because it gave me a real picture of the sufferings Christ went through; Perfume – it’s one of the most brilliant fictional movies I have ever seen with an ‘out of the box’ concept.

What is hot or new in the world where you live?
I am from India and, at this point of time, what’s important is who will be the leader of the nation. It’s quite interesting to have an update on the news and what other political parties are up to. And since it’s about our nation, it’s good to see the citizens participating and being concerned with choosing the right leader.
What does fashion mean to you?
For me, it’s freedom to design your identity, create a personality the way you want it to be, irrespective of what religion, colour or society you belong to.
How do you imagine your future?
I see myself designing for a well-known design house at a good level and, at the same time, owning a Chinese restaurant somewhere in my city.
How long will it take for a person to travel the entire world?
