Modeconnect offers a few internships to students wishing to pursue a career in fashion journalism, fashion social media or as fashion picture editor – iconographer. The fashion picture editor work placement offers a unique perspective on the manipulation and use of images for fashion in social media and digital publishing. It will help you identify and develop the qualities and skills required to succeed in this field.
Internships with Modeconnect usually last between 3 to 6 weeks and can be part or full time. Candidates must be a university student and required do an internship as part of their training. No wage is offered but refreshment, snacks and lunch will be provided at the office.

The Work Placement Experience
With our three work placements, – fashion journalism, fashion social media and picture editor – interns get to witness the day-to-day running of a small digital publishing business, and learn from a practical environment.
They may be involved in a number of activities ranging from contributing to social media to interacting with young designers or top fashion and education institutions. Depending on the calendar, interns get to attend main fashion events such as London Graduate Fashion Week, New Designers or London Fashion Week.
The Fashion Picture Editor Internship
This work placement offers an excellent overview of the work carried out to publish compelling fashion images that complement and enhance written content. Working with Modeconnect Art Director, the Picture Editor intern carries out varied tasks. They range from researching and sorting images to hi-resolution photo retouching (including image clean up, enhancement, masking and colour correction).
The Picture Editor also works with the social media team to select and adapt images to be shared on the relevant platforms and research images to be shared on Modeconnect’s Pinterest board.
Awareness of what constitute relevant and forward fashion images, good knowledge of Photoshop, a meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for accuracy are key. Note that unless covering fashion shows, Modeconnect does not organise or produce photo shoots. Your work will involve mainly images and photo already created.
