Newsletter: 16th April 2013
Spring is finally with us. Right now most of us are focused, slightly tensed and very excited: projects have to be handed in, collections finished and shows planned.
Modeconnect’s YourView competition is gathering momentum. We have recently published the profile of candidate no. 14, Lucy Jones, a 21 year old fashion design student from New York and expect to publish and additional six profiles before the competition is closed. Voting to choose the three winners will take place late May and early June. If you would like to take part – or know people who should – you must now hurry-up to submit work. Visuals must be tweeted before the end of April! Our Fashion Competition page will tell you in more details what you need to do.
We have recently finished our coverage of Singapore with two long articles giving a unique insight into the teaching of LASALLE College of the Arts, and Digital Fashion Singapore. We would like to thank Lionel Roudaut, Emily Wills, Charina Widjaja and Keyis Ng for answering our questions in so much detail.
We are very excited to have started the coverage of Paris, a city many consider the fashion capital of the world. This is a huge undertaking and we know you will enjoy it. As usual our first article is an editorial piece that takes a closer looks at French Fashion education.
We have just published the third of our book review: The Wedding Dress: 300 Years of Bridal Fashions by Edwina Ehrman, curator of textiles and fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This review is by Modeconnect new contributor Jessica Schwartz.
