The Dorchester Collection Award

The Dorchester Collection is one of luxury hotels, not garments. Contemporary style and state-of-the-art facilities enrich the original charm and heritage of each hotel, ensuring a consistently exceptional and memorable experience. To stay at any one of these iconic hotels, to meet or dine in their refined surroundings, is to experience the epitome of taste and glamour.

With its Fashion Award – and a cash prize of 30,000Euros – the Dorchester Collection supports, every year, a label which represents through Fashion, the same spirit. The previous two winners – this is the award 3rd edition – are designer Thomas Tait for 2010 and jewellery and accessories designers Anndra Neen for 2011.

This year list of five finalists was announced on the 26th of June. Calla, IRM Design, Les Garcons Paris, Augustin Teboul, Quentin Veron were selected by an imminent panel of fashion professionals which included: Elizabeth Saltzman (Vanity Fair),   Kenzo Takada,  Bruno Frisoni (French shoe label Roger Vivier), Lorenz Baumer (Louis Vuitton jewellery),   Alexandra Golovanoff  (French journalist), Nathalie Rykiel, Chantal Thomass, Harumi Klossowska de Rola (jewellery designer) and Jean-Jacques Picart (fashion consultant).

This year’s proceedings have a definite French flavour. The competition is however open to ready-to-wear and accessories designers based in France, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg who have operated their brand for at least two years.

Shortlisted designers will showcase their designs to the judges, fashion VIPs and the press on a catwalk at the Hotel Plaza Athénée, on October 16. Modeconnect wishes good luck to all the nominees.
