To launch the latest Design Forum collection in collaboration with Georgia Hardinge, River Island commissioned Alex Turvey to write and direct this short film. Both the film and the 14-piece collection now in River Island’s stores are inspired by a spectacular one-off dress designed by Georgia Hardinge. The intricate detailing of this dress is a beautiful illustration of the young designer style and passion for architectural shapes and sculpture.

A 2008 graduate from Parsons Paris School of Art and Design, Hardinge degree collection was awarded ‘the Golden Thimble’. Georgia’s Autumn Winter 2011 ‘Merit Award’ meant she could show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. She has since been a regular on London Fashion Week schedule.

With a much calmer story line this short film reference the aesthetic and some of the darker mood of the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien directed by Ridley Scott. This popular film owes a lot to Swiss surrealist artist H R Giger whose design for the film earned him an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 1980.
