After designing a the capsule collection inspired by John Lennon’s ‘sexy bod’ for Opening Ceremony, Yoko Ono is now giving make-up tips to men via this video which will no doubt go viral. It is produced by Opening Ceremony; text, concept and music are by Yoko Ono and the animation rmx by soña.
Clearly the advice generously shared in this video by the 20th century art icon is of a poetic nature. Yoko art is conceptual, often strange but always thought provoking. One of the leading sixties artist, most of Yoko Ono visual art is, like in this new video, in the form of instructions or ‘event scores’ that invite the public to get involved and create the art. In the video below she reads from her book Grapefruit: A Book of Instructions and Drawings published in 1964 and which features many such scores.

As the current Yoko Ono retrospective at the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt clearly demonstrates, there is much to Yoko’s art. At 80 she is still able to amaze.
